Sam’s Club Rumor is Dead. Costco not Likely Either

GoToby.com reader forwards Sam’s Club’s reply to his inquiry.

February 18, 2008 – Palm Coast – Many people have heard (and hoped) that Wal-Mart was planning to convert the existing Wal-Mart SuperCenter on Cypress Point Pkwy to a Sam’s Club next year upon completion of the new SuperCenter on Old Kings Road. This persistent rumor was disproved by the Sam’s Club Member Services Department in reply to an inquiry from a GoToby.com reader from Daytona who forwarded the response to me.

A second persistent rumor has focused on Costco. Commercial Realtors® who have talked with Costco have told me that the population density of Palm Coast does not currently meet Costco’s requirements for a store location.

Rumor: (noun) A current story or statement without confirmation or certainty as to facts

    Go Figure

Go figure? Bangor Maine with a regional population of 58,000 has a Sam\\\\\\’s Club.
The City itself has a population in the mid thirty thousands.
The logic for a Sam\\\\\\’s Club in such a small city is because Bangor is considered a service Center for an area extending far away as up to 100 miles northwards.

I would guess that in the circumstances of Palm Coast, the driving distance to the nearest Sam\\\\\\’s Club plays as large a roll in the decision as the population of the community.

    Whither Golden Corral?

So, what’s happening at the site in Cobblestone Village? No activity since Nov’07. The sign says \”Everyone deserves a good meal\” and I’m getting pretty hungry.
