City Releases Palm Harbor Golf Course Update

Under-budget contract will be awarded at Nobember 4th city council meeting.

Palm Coast, Florida – October 24, 2008 – City of Palm Coast, Florida staff and residents are extremely delighted that continuing construction progress is occurring at the Palm Harbor Golf Course. Renovations will consist of engineering and design plans to correct drainage issues, replacement of the irrigation system, reconstruction of all tees and greens, additions/deletions or modification of all bunkers, pond creation, removal of trees, driving range tee area with range features, replacement of cart paths, grassing the entire course and temporary clubhouse.

An update of activity includes the following:
  • The City is currently removing selected trees from the property and handling a general clean-up in preparation for the onset of golf course construction.
  • The first round of spray to kill the grass has been completed; a second round will be finished in approximately two weeks.
  • Construction bids have been opened, with the apparent lowest bid coming in approximately $1 million under budget, or a total cost of approximately $2.6 million. City Council is expected to award the contract at its Tuesday, November 4th meeting.
  • Contractors will begin construction in mid-November, with the course hopefully open for play by Labor Day, 2009.
For safety purposes now that we are commencing construction operations, City staff is giving notice that the golf course property is closed and that only those involved in construction may be found on the course property.
