www.WNZFRadio.comPalm Coast, FL – December 18, 2010WNZF News Radio, covering Flagler County, Palm Coast, Bunnell, Flagler Beach, and Beverly Beach reaches new heights. Signal improvements for both FM 106.3 and AM 1550 have been approved by the Federal Communications Commission and were implemented yesterday, according the station’s vice president and general manager, David Ayres.
The FM signal has been improved by moving the antenna higher, using a higher microwave path link from the WNZF studios, and placing a new antenna closer to the county’s population center. Ayres said, "The new FM signal now delivers a sound significantly improved and achieved without building a new tower. By working with SBA Tower Company we have been able use their existing structure without impacting the environment or aesthetics of our sensitive area."
“The new antenna site is on U.S. 1 just south of Palm Coast Parkway and is equipped with a generator for emergencies,” Ayres continued.
The AM on 1550 kilohertz has just increased its daytime power by 26% to 11,000 watts. This increase enables WNZF to extend its protected contour" over Daytona Beach, Saint Augustine, and Palatka. More significantly, Ayres asserts, is better reception for listeners here in Flagler. The AM facility also has an emergency generator on site.
WNZF is also simulcast on www.wnzf.com where you can listen live worldwide.
"These improvements represent our continuing investment and confidence in Flagler County’s future," Ayres said.
