Stern Wheel Music City Queen Passes through Palm Coast
The Music City Queen is a stern a showboat that operated out of Opry Mills in Nashville. It was seen headed north on the Intracoastal Waterway at the Tidelands condominium community in Palm Coast.
Palm Coast, FL—May 10, 2014 –The Music City Queen riverboat was photographed Thursday as it headed north on the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Coast; destination unknown. The stern-wheeler has been operating on the Cumberland River out of Nashville, Tenn. I captured this shot from my condominium in Tidelands.
Boat watching from this venue is really enjoyable. Several private vessels sporting both U.S. and Canadian flags are seen headed south in the fall towards south Florida, Bahamas or Caribbean for the winter and returning north in the spring. Last fall I took this picture of Greta van Susteren’s 80-foot Trumpy yacht, "S.S. Sophie” motoring south. For more informatin about the Sophie, read Greta van Susteren's Trumpy in Power and Motor Yacht
Other highlights are the occasional commercial barge traffic, new Sea Ray boats on test runs, the Christmas Boat Parade each December and the Syracuse University men’s and women’s rowing teams practicing on the ICW each year in early January.
Our ICW – Another Palm Coast ‘undervalued asset’
The Intracoastal Waterway streaming through Palm Coast is noticed by some but not fully appreciated by most. The waterway has great potential to provide recreation and promote our area attracting inbound home buyers. Like the Florida agricultural Museum, both are unique and treasured assets of Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches.
Music City Queen
About 50 people saw this boat at the same time from Washington Oaks State Park at about 7:30 PM last Thursday evening. What a beautiful sight. Most of us had our cameras at the ready!
Resident Trumpy
Back in 2007 to 2008 there was a 50 to 60 foot Trumpy parked at the Palm Coast Marina tied up on the canal. Used to drive slow over the bridge to eye it. It was a real gem. Haven’t seen it since then.
