Starbucks to Demolish and Rebuild Island Walk Store to Include Drive-thru
Starbucks will temporarily relocate within Island Walk. The new store is expected to reopen at the current location in early or mid-2017.
PALM COAST, FL – August 25, 2016 – GoToby.com has learned that Starbucks and Island Walk Shopping Center developer Branch Properties LLC, of Atlanta, have reached an agreement to demolish the present Starbucks building in Island Walk and rebuild at the same location. The new store will include drive-thru service.
The store is dated and in need of an upgrade. Starbucks had wanted to add a drive-thru capability, but the current store configuration was problematic. During the transition, Starbucks will relocate to units #408 and #409, in the northwest corner of Island Walk.
This latest Island Walk news reaffirms the strength of Palm Coast's growing economy driven by continued population growth. It was recently learned that a UBreakiFix is also coming to the redeveloped property. The project is anchored by a new Publix and includes a recently opened Hobby Lobby and Metro Diner. A new Petco and Tuesday Morning are expected to open soon.

I’ve heard that they plan to open some time in the October – November time-frame.
Parking
I hope they add parking and create better vehicle flow around it. The place is typically packed and tough to get in and out.

Free, Free, and more FREE…
The Palm Harbor Shopping Center, a.k.a. Island Walk, came about because of a Federal ‘ Consent Agreement’. It was ORDERED. We early purchasers were offered a choice; that is a Publix or Winn-Dixie. We chose Publix. For a long time it offered complimentary wine, Hors’doeuvres, and canapes. We were all very jovial and it became not just a grocery store but a social meeting place also.
Also, the Palm Coast Golf Club, a.k.a. the Palm Harbor Golf Club did not have a liquer license. I.T.T. Levitt offered complimentary draft beer, as in FREE and unlimited, for golfers and non-golfers. We were all very jovial.
Looking back, when prospective buyers conversed with us…we would appear very ‘jovial’ to them which may have been one of the reasons why in just a few years 38,000 sales occurred.
Hollywood Celebrities all over, salesmen with suitcases packed full of money since we had no Banks at all…singing, dancing, fashion shows, parades… even Bath Tub Boat Races up the Intracoastal…
( Don’t tell anyone, but Levitt I.T.T. offered us Free Golf…and we didn’t have to pay for Water for a couple of years – I.T.T. Levitt gave each of us a free garden hose and a sprinkler – we had the greenest lawns in the World. ) – excellent Business Acumen !
Free Golf, Free Water, Free use of Swimming Pools, Free Banquets every Friday Night –
Did I tell ya’…Free Draft Beer ! So what if we all had to drive to Ormond with Coolers in our Cars for eats once a week…it was a small price to pay for living in Paradise…
…and the money kept pouring in…
Let’s hope that the new Starbucks keeps with the Palm Coast Tradition – pehaps Free Coffee for a couple of weeks or so…
