Palm Coast, FL – October 10, 2014 – Beyond the day-to-day improvement in metro Palm Coast’s residential real estate market, other news and rumors are popping up with increasing frequency.

Rumor (weak to fair): One week ago today, an individual knocked on some doors of homes bordering the closed Matanzas Golf Course. Residents who spoke with the individual say he presented himself as being from Jacksonville. He said he had just bought the Matanzas Golf Course and that he plans to open the practice facility and three holes. He also plans to repair the buildings. GoToby.com has been unable to verify this rumor. The Matanzas course has a history of rumored and/or unsuccessful attempts to purchase it.

Rumor (strong): A ground-breaking ceremony for the new Palm Coast City Hall is tentatively scheduled for October 29th at 5:30. It is still unknown whether all the parties involved will be available at that time.

News: A recent inter-local agreement between the city and county ironed out some water service and land use issues regarding land adjacent to the Flagler County Airport. The county will give land for a public park on Belle Terre at the new airport south entrance. The new entrance will provide access to property where a proposed National Guard facility will be constructed. This is not the same National Guard unit that recently signed a lease on the former APT building at the airport. That was a separate unit.

News: On the Flagler County Planning & Development Board’s agenda is Hammock Beach Club’s development plan to expand its oceanfront lodge with 198 luxury guest rooms (existing 20 rooms will be replaced) plus increased meeting room and ball room space, and a larger public restaurant. The new facility will be constructed on the existing lodge footprint and will be no higher than the present structure. While a vocal minority has raised opposition to the project, a significant majority of residents and club members are enthusiastic about the expansion.

News: The Island Walk Shopping Center (AKA Palm Harbor Shopping Plaza) moved closer to reality as Palm Coast approved economic development funding for the project. The Planning & Land Development Regulation Board has recommended approval of the project site plan by City Council. Click here to view. Allow plenty of time for it to download.

News: Conversations are underway with city and county planners about two separate retail commercial projects on the south side of SR 100 across from Target. The subject parcels comprise the SR 100 frontage from Belle Terre Pkwy to the Chamber of Commerce building and are 12.37 acres and 32.97 acres respectively. The owner of the larger parcel is on the Tuesday agenda of the Flagler County Planning & Development Board to submit a preliminary play approval.

    Matanzas Rumor is hot.

    There appears to have been a change in ownership for the Matanzas course property. It’s listed on the court site use search parameters;
    GOLF GROUP OF PALM COAST LLC.
