New High School on Colbert Lane Rumor Debunked

Palm Coast, FL – July 27, 2009 – Many rumors are based on some underlying fact. A recent rumor of a new high school planned for Colbert Lane falls into this category. It seems that Imagine Schools, the company that operates the newly opened K – 8 charter school on Town Center Pkwy in Town Center, had some property on Colbert Lane in Palm Coast under contract. The 30.55-acre property is on the east side of Colbert Lane just north of Grand Haven. While the rumor of a new high school gained steam, reality did not. Imagine has pulled back from their plans to construct the charter high school there. My source tells me that Imagine currently holds no contract on the property.

Here’s something else for Colbert Lane residents to chew on. The Palm Coast Fire Department is undergoing a site review. Their station at Palm Coast Pkwy NE and Club House Dr is not adequate for future needs. I understand that the department would prefer to be on SR 100, but the city already owns property on the west side of Colbert Lane just south of Grand Haven’s main entrance between the two retention ponds.
