National Foreclosure Overview – How Do We Stack Up?
Approximately 491,000 homes in the United States were in some stage of foreclosure as of May 2015, compared to 676,000 in May 2014, a decrease of 27.4 percent.
PALM COAST, FL – July 14, 2015 – CoreLogic today released its May 2015 National Foreclosure Report. Approximately 491,000 homes in the United States were in some stage of foreclosure as of May 2015, compared to 676,000 in May 2014, a decrease of 27.4 percent.
Florida led all states in the number of completed foreclosures with 104,000, 261 percent greater than second place Michigan. Texas was number three with 33,000, followed by California with 28,000 and Ohio with 27,000. Flagler County had 39 foreclosure completions in May and 33 in June.
Florida has slipped into third place when measuring foreclosure inventory as a percentage of mortgaged homes with 2.9 percent. Florida’s foreclosure inventory dropped 47.0 percent from May a year ago. New Jersey led the list with 4.9 percent, followed by New York at 3.7 percent. Following Florida were Hawaii with 2.5 percent and the District of Columbia with 2.4 percent. The national rate is 1.3 percent. Flagler County had fewer than 600 open foreclosure cases as of July 7.
