Important Survey: Economic Development in Flagler County

It’s important for everyone who lives, works or owns property in Flagler County to provide input on this critical topic. It only takes a few minutes and you might win a prize.

PALM COAST, FL – November 21, 2015 – I urge all GoToby.com readers to take the Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Survey and share the link with family, friends and colleagues. It's important for everyone who lives, works, owns property or has other interests in Flagler County to weigh in on this important topic! (You might even win a prize for your effort!) The Chamber’s goal is to have 1,000 survey responses before the end of the year.

Why is the survey so important?

Our schools are doing a wonderful job producing well educated youth. Economic development will provide jobs to support our economy and to allow our young graduates an opportunity to apply their newly learned skills in Flagler County. Our biggest export should not be well educated and well trained youth.

Tax relief to residential property owners: Flagler County and its cities are far too dependent on the residential property tax base. A better balance between residential, commercial and industrial properties is necessary.

Public services to residential properties cost more to provide than the property taxes collected from those properties. Commercial properties, on the other hand, pay much more in property taxes than they require in public service costs. Residents’ future property taxes will be lower if Flagler County and its cities can attract commercial and industrial development than if such development is lacking.
