Connected Homes Raise Privacy and Security Concerns

We are a gadget society, becoming more so with each passing technology upgrade. But really neat stuff may alert thieves that you are away or give them access to your private data.

In a connected home, you can access these devices to activate your security system, change your thermostat setting, ask your refrigerator what its contents are, view real time video feeds, turn lights on or off and more, all through the Internet using a computer, smart phone or tablet. Builder Magazine warns that the growth in  smart home technology has led to weaknesses in security. A recent study uncovered an average of 25 vulnerabilities in roughly 70% of the top consumer connected home devices. Buyer beware.
