Two Clearwater, Florida Based Foreclosure Rescue Firms Charged with Scam

Mortgage Assistance Solutions LLC and Foreclosure Assistance Solutions LLC charged by Texas and Illinois Attorneys General.

September 17, 2007 – Palm Coast, Florida – Several Midwest newspapers report that Attorneys General from Illinois and Texas have charged two Florida based mortgage rescue firms with deceiving customers. Mortgage Assistance Solutions LLC and Foreclosure Assistance Solutions LLC, are both headquartered in Clearwater, Florida. Although public records do not indicate a relationship between the two firms, both their names and scams are similar.

Individuals with mortgages payment problems were sent postcards that read, “You will lose your home if you don’t call now!!!!” The companies indicated that they could make a better deal with lenders than could the individual borrowers. But, refusing to discuss details of their rescue programs, the companies none the less demanded a $1,200 payment. Customers were also instructed not to contact their lenders. Once the payment was received, customers seldom heard from the companies again.

People having trouble keeping up with their mortgage payments should always contact their lender to try to work out a solution. Promises made by rescue companies that sound too good to be true probably are.
