Tax Burden by State: How Does Your State Stack Up?

Florida ranks 5th among the best states ranked by the combined federal, state, and local tax burden.

Palm Coast, FL – March 3, 2011 – A study by the Tax Foundation, a non-partisan, non-political think tank looks at the combined federal, state, and local tax burden by state. Florida ranks fifth among the best states, behind South Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming, and Nevada.
Erratum: A note on Table 19, "State Gasoline Tax Rates," erroneously lists Colorado among the states that apply general sales taxes to gasoline.  The intended state for this list was Connecticut.  The Tax Foundation regrets the error.
A column heading on Table 25, "State and Local Excise and Selective Sales Tax Collections Per Capita," should refer to "Tax Collections," not "Tax Rate." The Tax Foundation regrets the error.
