Palm Coast, FL – December 7, 2014 – Third time’s a charm. After two years of uncharacteristically bad weather, Palm Coast Yacht Club’s 2014 Holiday Boat Parade motored by our Tidelands location on the Intracoastal Waterway under fine weather and a full moon. Both the moon and the decorative lights reflected on the water.
Twenty-two boats participated. This year’s Grand Marshall was Mayor Jon Netts. The Sheriff’s department provided two boats for safety; one to lead the parade, the other to follow it. Also participating were boats from Fish and Wildlife and Towboat US.
Two years ago, the fog was so thick that those on boats in the parade could not see either shoreline. Only seven boats ventured out that year. Last year’s parade was cancelled under a severe weather warning. The warning turned out to be an understatement. A tornado touched down near the Cimmaron Basin starting point.
