Mayor Milissa Holland Declares December 15 Palm Coast Holiday Boat Parade Day

KOOL 100.9 FM will cover the parade, beginning at 6:00 p.m. the night of the parade, live from Palm Coast’s Waterfront Park.

PALM COAST, FL — November 26, 2018 — December 15 is official “PALM COAST HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE DAY,” as declared by Mayoral Proclamation by Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland.  Mayor Holland made the proclamation at a City Hall ceremony on November 20.  Present were members of the parade’s organizers, The Palm Coast Yacht Club, Ansley Cestare, co-anchor of KOOL 100.9 FM’s live coverage of the parade, and some of the boaters who will be part of the parade. 

The Proclamation was read aloud by out-going Vice Mayor Robert G. Cuff.  Also present was Elayne Byrd, whose late husband John Byrd was a captain of the parade and in whose honor the 2018 Parade is being named.

KOOL 100.9 FM will cover the parade, beginning at 6:00 p.m. the night of the parade, live from Palm Coast’s Waterfront Park. Anchors will be Flagler Broadcasting’s own “Doctor Dave,” former Mayor Jon Netts, and Ansley Cestare of FPC-TV of Flagler Palm Coast High School.

Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland and Sheriff Rick Staly will serve as the Parade’s Grand Marshalls.  Hundreds of spectators are expected.  Once again under the stewardship of the Palm Coast Yacht Club, the Parade is expected to exceed last year’s record of more than forty brightly lit and decorated boats.  It is now generally considered the largest boat parade in Central Florida.

Boaters and fans are invited to start making plans for this colorful and exciting event.  The parade begins at 6 p.m. departing from the Cimmaron Basin south on the Intracoastal Waterway, turning at the Grand Haven gazebo back to the Club House Waterway.  The Parade will be escorted by boats from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Tow Boat US, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Palm Coast Auxiliary of the U.S. Coast Guard. 

The Parade will pass the Tidelands, Marina Cove, and the Palm Coast Legacy Vacation Resort.  It will then proceed under the Hammock Dunes Bridge along St. Joe’s Walkway and Canopy Walk, pass by Waterfront Park, Grand Haven, Island Estates, the Hammock, and Yacht Harbor Village before disbursing at the Clubhouse Waterway.

Registration is now open to all.  For registration forms, boat captains are urged to contact Parade Captain Robert Ulis at 386-283-5166 or at SRULIS00@gmail.com.   Forms and further details about the parade are also available at the Palm Coast Yacht Club website at www.palmcoastyachtclub.com.  Boats must be decorated and registered to participate.  There are no entry fees.  Rain date is set for December 16.  Official notice of any change to the Parade status will be posted on the Palm Coast Yacht Club website by 4 p.m. on December 15.  Membership in the Club is not required to participate.

Participating boat captains are required to attend a special meeting on the morning of the Parade outlining safety regulations and procedures.
