Miami-based Banner Supply Co. agreed in 2006 to keep quiet about a smell produced by imported Chinese drywall that has now ruined electrical wiring, air conditioners and caused millions in other damages in homes throughout Florida and the Southeast.

The agreement, signed on Dec. 6, 2006, settled what could have been costly litigation between Banner and China-based Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin, but it kept other construction companies and homebuyers in the dark about the problem drywall. Click here to read the agreement.

To the best of my knowledge, there are only two confirmed cases of toxic Chinese drywall in Flagler County. Both homes were built by an Ormand-based builder. I’ve been in several Tidelands units never saw any signs of metal corrosion.
