Another Trumpy Yacht Passes through Palm Coast

Palm Coast, FL – May 17, 2014 – While checking on the nearly completed shoreline riprap project at Tidelands yesterday, I snapped “Sea Tabby,” a 61 foot restored Trumpy motor yacht, originally built in 1938. It was headed north for the summer, having completed the north south roundtrip over 45 times in the past.

Trumpy yaht Sea Tabby by GoToby.comTrumpy yachts are quite distinctive. They were acclaimed as the Rolls Royce of American motor yachts by the NY Times. The 104-foot “Sequoia” another Trumpy served as the presidential yacht for FDR through Nixon.

Sea Tabby (pictured right) is the third Trumpy I’ve snapped within the past year. The others were the 83-foot “Wishing Star” and Greta Van Susteren’s 80-foot “S.S. Sophie.” Over 400 Trumpy yachts were built before the boatyard was closed in 1973. Only about 100 still exist.
