“Heart disease doesn’t care who it hurts,” said John Subers, Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation Director. “Nearly 1 million Americans die each year from cardiovascular disease – that’s one death every 35 seconds. And as the population and age of Flagler County residents’ increases, so does the number of those who may need critical cardiac care.”
Although state-of-the-art cardiac diagnostics are already available and in full use at Florida Hospital Flagler, the hospital is currently building an interventional cardiac catheterization unit which will provide services such as placing stents and angioplasties.
“With the support of our community, we will have the ability to advance the cardiac care in Flagler County in order to meet the growing needs of our community’s future,” Subers said.
“We thought this was a unique way for the community to support their local restaurants, while also helping Florida Hospital Flagler enhance their cardiac services,” said Tony Papandrea, Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation Board of Directors Chairman. “This Cardiac Cath Lab is so important to our community because it will provide lifesaving procedures, such as stents and angioplasties. With that in mind, I urge all residents to support the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation in their endeavor to maintain a healthier, stronger, more robust community and eat lunch at any of the participating restaurants during September 21– 25th from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. These local restaurants have already declared their support of Florida Hospital Flagler’s Cardiac Cath Lab by donating a portion of their proceeds to the ‘Saving Hearts in Flagler County’ campaign.”

    Saving Hearts in Flagler

Thank you, Toby, for kindly lending your support to this worthwhile project … I am sure that many of the patrons we have greeted at the restaurants knew about the week because you chose to mention it to your wide audience. We are gratiful.

    What a great program!

Thank you for sharing the news about this program with all of your website followers Toby! I heard about the Saving Hearts event this week and gave me a great excuse to try a new restaurant this week. (I went to Domenic’s Deli – it was fantastic!) It really feels great to enjoy a good meal with friends, knowing that my lunch money spent is going to better the community’s cardiac care, as well as help our local business owners. I hope there are more of these fundraisers in the future!
