The Jack Nicklaus signature course at Grand Haven in Palm Coast, Florida winds through the development with a couple of holes overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. The sound of the Atlantic surf, less than one half mile away, is often heard. The signature 8th hole presents the golfer with a challenging shot to an island green. With many water hazards and bunkers, the course offers several risk/reward opportunities. Unless you strategically place your tee shot to allow a clean shot into an opening to the green, you may find yourself with a shot over greenside bunkers to a shallow green. In standard Nicklaus fashion, most greens have a false front. Shots landing short tend to stay short. Fortunately, the greens are very receptive to short and mid iron shots. Tough pin placements on the long par 4s turn them into virtual par 5s. Most greens are flat with subtle undulations and several visual tricks to complicate putting.
The course is very fair. Good shots are rewarded while bad shots will surely boost your score. Those who play here regularly comment that they never tire of the layout. Play is available all year. Frost delays are very rare. During the summer, a refreshing sea breeze kicks in about 10:00 AM, lasting till dusk.
The clubhouse overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway has a bar and restaurant facility with seating for up to 180 people.
