Economic Development Team Hopes ‘Project Vision’ Locates Manufacturing Plant in Flagler County

Targeted company, whose name cannot be released because of a confidentiality agreement, exploits cutting edge technology to produce Large Print pens and pencils

Palm Coast, FL – April 1, 2010 – Struggling with Florida’s highest unemployment rate, Palm Coast and Flagler County are desperately seeking new employers. Economic development leaders and commercial Realtors®, although under a strict non-disclosure agreement, have leaked to GoToby.com details of a current effort to entice a manufacturer of special writing instruments to locate here. The unnamed company is referred to in confidential documents as "Project Vision." Project Vision manufactures Large Print pens and pencils.
The products should find a ready market anywhere retirees live or congregate. The patented process uses technology similar to that used in the manufacture of automobile rear view mirrors which enables "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." Project Vision reverses that technology. Convex mirrors are pulverized into minute particles which are infused into either ink or pencil lead. Anything written with these specially equipped pencils and pens will appear larger than it really is; as if you are looking through a magnifying glass.
Applications for the technology are abundant, especially among older populations like those in Florida and Arizona. When printed with Vision’s revolutionary inks, books, medicine labels, restaurant menus, street signs, telephone directories, and even expiration dates on shopping coupons are easier to read. A company source (who cannot be named because he is not authorized to release information) revealed to GoToby.com that Vision is close to finalizing an exclusive contract with Florida golf courses to supply scoring pencils. The company believes that the technology can be adapted to television screens making it possible for a 12" screen to appear to viewers as if it were 72".
But before you get too excited about landing a job with Project Vision or about the economic impact to the area, and certainly before you broadcast it to others as anything but a hoax, check the story’s dateline above. April 1, 2010. I hope you enjoy your April Fools’ Day as much as I’m enjoying mine.
Now that you are in on the joke, feel free to forward this story to your friends.

    HA!

I knew this was a TALL TALE right from the beginning, because there is no way Palm Coast would endorse technology that turns standard writing into a sign. Even if it did add jobs.

    Not Funny!

I love a good joke as much as anyone, but your topic was nothing to joke about. In this time of economic downturn and job losses for everyone, your subject was totally inappropriate. This area desperately needs new businesses, and I don’t mean popping popcorn at the local theatre, or servers at the local restaurant. We need jobs that can sustain families and produce a significant tax base for our community.
